George Washington University.
For over two years, VFH has been working with George Washington University and its national research partners with the TODAY and STOPP studies for Type 2 juvenile diabetes.  We provide Spanish translation, back-translation and terminology management for their extensive lifestyle management curriculum.

The Lacks Cancer Center
When the Lacks Cancer Center at St. Mary's applied for a Susan B. Komen grant, they turned to VFH to inquire about the needs of the community to determine which underserved populations to target and the type of program to provide.  They subsequently received a $10,000 grant in 2003 and a $30,000 grant in 2004 to develop and test both a Vietnamese and Spanish peer education curriculum for breast cancer screening. The cancer center released a Vietnamese breast health video in 2005, for which VFH provided cultural consultation, recruitment of community consultants, translation, script review and evaluation assistance.

PacificSource Health Plans
Upon initiating a translation project for PacificSource, VFH identified a large amount of identical text that had been translated for the customer 2 years prior.  By notifying our customer and avoiding duplicated work, they saved over $1,000.

Kent County Community Mental Health
CMH received a state mandate to comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  VFH helped them to determine which languages to prioritize for translation and prepare culturally-appropriate text for client rights and education materials. We currently provide interpreting services and also taught Spanish courses to their providers.
